III. About
Huibrecht is a portrait artist based in Johannesburg, working in graphite, charcoal, and conté. Each piece begins with hours of looking — at the angle of a jaw, the weight of an eyelid, the way light gathers in the hollow of a temple.
Trained in the classical tradition and informed by years of life drawing, the work seeks not likeness alone but presence: the stillness of a person caught somewhere between thought and repose.
Studio practice is private and unhurried. Most works take between twelve and forty hours to complete.
IV. Commissions
Three formats, drawn from life sittings in the Johannesburg studio or from photographs sent from anywhere. Each piece is signed, dated, and delivered unframed in archival packaging.
